A post-doctoral research grant is available for scientists who currently hold a Doctoral degree in Science or Engineering disciplines within the framework of project CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials (Refª. FCT UID/CTM/50011/2013) financed by national funds through FCT/MEC and when applicable co-financed by FEDER under the PT2020 Partnership Agreement, under the following conditions:

Admission requirements: Prospective applicants should possess a PhD degree in Science or Engineering disciplines, with a preference for the areas of Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Physics.
Activity Outline: The main objective of this grant will be the study of the behavior (adsorption, diffusion and reaction) of small molecules in porous materials employing computational simulation techniques.
The particular objectives to be achieved are the following:
- Monte Carlo simulation of gas adsorption.
- Molecular Dynamics simulation of molecular diffusion in the porous materials.
- Ab initio calculation of adsorbate-adsorbent interactions and determination of reaction profiles.
Legislation and regulations: The fellowship is in accordance with Law Nº. 40/2004, 18th August (Research Fellow Statute) and regulations for Advanced Training of Human Resources of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) I.P. — 2013 (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt) and the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants from the University of Aveiro – Regulation n.º 341/2011, published in Diário da República, 2nd series, n.º 98, 20th May.
Workplace: The work will be carried out at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials,Chemistry Department of University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of Doctor José R. B. Gomes (CICECO – University of Aveiro).
Duration and scope of activity: The fellowship will have a duration of 6 (six) months on an exclusivity basis, and is expected to begin in 1 of July, 2015, with the possibility to extend.
Value of monthly maintenance allowance: 1495 Euros/month (tax free) according to the official table for Research Grants from FCT - http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores, to be paid monthly via bank transfer.
Evaluation Criteria and Process: The evaluation criteria are: i) Scientific track record; ii) Previous experience in related areas; iii) Interview, with values of 8, 7 and 5 points, respectively. Only candidates who have obtained a classification of at least 10 points in the sum of i) and ii) will be invited for an interview. The final results of the evaluation will be communicated by email.
Opening date and deadline for applications:15th of April to 15th of May 2015.
Jury: The Jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed of: Doctor José R. B. Gomes (University of Aveiro), Doctor Paula Ferreira (University of Aveiro), and Doctor Nuno João Silva (University of Aveiro).
