The application to a Research Fellowship is opened under the Project PTDC/BIA-BIC/4476/2012, called “A vertebrate's eye view on habitat loss and fragmentation across time and space in Madagascar” financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, through national funds (PIDDAC).
1. Duration: The Fellowship will have the duration of 8 months, starting on March or April 2014, in exclusiveness regime, as regulated by the human resources of FCT (http://www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/formacao/ambitoprojectos) and fellowships regulation of Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (http://www.igc.gulbenkian.pt).
2. Subject of Activities: The research activity is to sample natural populations of lemurs living in fragmented environments in Madagascar and estimates their densities.
3. Scientific Orientation: Population and Conservation Genetics Group – Lounès Chikhi - Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência
4. Selecting Criteria: Degree in Science or technical degree in ecology (three year University). The candidate is expected to work in close collaboration with a PhD student and with Malagasy Masters students. The candidate should have some experience with field work in tropical countries and possibly have experience in ecology, Fluency in French and English are highly desirable. Experience in Madagascar and basic Malagasy are a plus.
5. Month Stipend: According the regulations of the FCT Scientific Fellowships in Portugal (€745.00/month + SSV).

7. Methods of selection: Selection methods shall be as follows: evaluation of curriculum (70%) and motivation letter (30%). In case of draw/tie, each candidate in this situation will be interviewed

9. Form of advertising / notification of results: The final evaluation results will be publicized through the final score ordered list, posted in http://www.igc.pt/node/view/9, and the candidate approved notified by email.
