- To compile data and information on: CC and adaptation measures; their effectiveness, social and economic benefits and costs for sectors; and their implications for policy making in order to build a strong and comprehensive knowledge base tool integrating the socio-economic and political responses (autonomous and planned) to CC, vulnerability, mitigation and adaptation. This data will be made publicly available through dissemination tools such as the European Clearing House Mechanism.
- To identify conflicts and synergies of adaptation policies with other policies (including climate mitigation) within and between sectors by analysing environmental, social and economic effects of adaptation responses from bottom-up perspective and thereby identify strategies that improve policy coherence and effectiveness (high environmental and social benefits and low costs).
- To assess the effectiveness and full costs and benefits of sectorial adaptation programmes of measures to be undertaken at local, regional, and national scales using innovative approaches with particular attention on sectors of high social and economic and social importance.
